CARR SCHOLARSHIP 6TH AWARD 2010

Assist. Prof Kirk Wegter-McNelly, Scholarship Winner Katie Cole, Paul H. Carr, Ph.D.

Katherine Cole is the 2010 winner of the Carr Scholarship in Science and Religion at the Boston University School of Theology.

 Katie's goal is to integrate her studies of theology and social work. She states:

 "Both pastors and social workers have a desire to help people: pastors from a theological , human-divine relationship perspective, and social workers from an evidence-based practice perspective of human relationships...My aspiration is to effectively craft and practice my theological understanding while utilizing the skills and tools of social science. Social sciences in contrast to theology describes the world in terms of the person's or community's assessed strengths and needs along with measurable and predictable parameters of growth and development.”
